The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM) has announced its first Early Careers President, proving its commitment to supporting the growth of the resources and skills needed for the future of waste management.

The new Early Years President, Charlotte Davies, will work alongside several Early Careers Ambassadors from across the sector to represent the voices of professionals at the start of their careers. By attending strategic meetings, participating as speakers or panellists in CIWM events and assisting with outreach initiatives aimed at colleges and universities, the Early Careers Team will not just provide a voice for professionals in the field but also encourage the next generation to join the sector.

Charlotte Davies is an Associate Member of CIWM. After joining the environmental consultancy and compliance scheme Beyondly in September 2021, she moved from an Environmental Data Analyst and Resource Efficiency Consultant to a Senior Consultant for Resource Efficiency and Circularity.

Charlotte has said she wishes to “inspire and support professional development” within the sector and hopes to use modern methods to attract new young professionals into the sector. “By utilising technologies and social platforms such as TikTok, I hope to extend CIWM’s reach to new age groups, raising awareness of the importance of resource efficiency and waste management in addressing the climate crisis.”
