Don't miss out on this year's Operational Optimisation, with a packed programme of expert speakers (20 April). The workshop will kick off with a presentation from Ben Freeman, E&B Senior Advisor (Energy from Waste), Environment Agency on 'NOx reduction and energy efficiency improvements – the Environment Agency’s ambitions for EfW and biomass plants'. Freeman worked on a number of national regulatory projects for the Environment Agency’s Environment & Business Department before taking over as Senior Advisor for Energy from Waste five years ago. Ben was also the UK’s lead representative in the Technical Working Group for the Waste Incineration BREF review in Seville.

This will be followed by Johan Heiszwolf's presentation on 'Improving asset performance by reducing boiler fouling and improving SO2 control'. As global director for flue gas treatment applications at Lhoist, Heiszwolf focuses on the development of innovative products, advanced technical support, and marketing.

The presentation 'Understanding feedstock and improving combustion performance' will be led by Guy Sharp, Senior Project Manager, RJM International, and Mike Hession, Managing Director, E-tech Learning, who will discuss the implications for your plant and the measures that need to be taken to ensure continuing performance.

Mike Anderson, Managing Director, KRR Prostream, and Colin Bateman, Director of Business Development EMEA, IGS, will be sharing their expertise on 'Reducing downtime through best practice boiler management and cleaning', while Technikgruppe's CEO, Matthias Lukic, and Business Development Manager, Damir Zibrat, will discuss 'Combustion optimisation'.

To round off the morning sessions, Brigitte Jacobs, Business Development Manager, Energy Transition Industry, TNO, will be sharing lessons learnt from CCS / CCUS integration with waste to energy across plants in Netherlands in her presentation 'CCS - what are the implications and opportunities for your plant?'

The afternoon's programme features 'Practicalities of BREF - an exploration of the challenges of achieving compliance with the upcoming BREF with a discussion on some of the solutions for doing so' from Ingo Zorbach, Managing Director of Babcock & Wilcox's GMAB Technologies.

This will be followed by Tobias Mettler, Managing Director of P-Wave, and Dr Oliver Gohlke, President of supervisory board, P-Wave AG, who are delving into the 'Challenges of ageing plants; innovative solutions for keeping ageing boilers clean'.
