SUEZ was ranked 23rd for big UK companies, with employee engagement specialists Best Companies, highlighting:

  • the open and honest relationships that employees have with their line managers;
  • that employees feel that they make a valuable contribution to the overall success of the organisation; and,
  • that working at SUEZ supports career development with the experience employees gain from their job being seen as positive for their future.

The results are based on surveys with SUEZ’s over 5,600 employees, who are all invited to take part. Best Companies were again impressed with SUEZ’s stand-out response rate, which at 82.5% is nearly 20% higher than the average.

Describing SUEZ as a forward-thinking employer, Best Companies noted that openness and collaboration are at the heart its activities. Open and honest relationships between line managers and employees were evident from the feedback, and employees are encouraged to develop their skills with opportunities available for those who wish to progress their career at SUEZ.

The importance given to employees’ safety and wellbeing was a key theme, with high priority given to initiatives that improve health and safety, and that enhance both physical and mental wellbeing.

Best Companies identified that in recent years SUEZ has placed added focus on inclusion and diversity and enhancing the employee experience, recognising that businesses thrive when individuals feel that their wellness, creativity, and continuous learning are valued and supported.

John Scanlon, Chief Executive Officer for SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, said: “Since we were last rated by Best Companies in 2020, we have gone through the pandemic which placed huge pressures on frontline essential services such as ours, and at SUEZ we have also experienced uncertainty around our future ownership during this period.

“Over the past two years we have worked hard to support our people and their families, and we have continued our focus on talent development, providing opportunities for our people to progress their careers. We’ve always been clear that our people are our greatest asset and critical to our ability to deliver reliable, high-quality services to our customers, and I’m immensely proud to have retained our place amongst the 25 Best Big Companies to work for in the UK.”
