About the Speakers

Tim Rotheray - CSO, Viridor

Tim joined Viridor in 2019 to drive decarbonisation and circular economy projects and work with Government and Regulators to ensure the policy environment enables the right investments.

Tim also leads Viridor’s ESG work, overseeing development and implementation of Viridor’s ESG strategy. In May 2020 Viridor published its sector-leading Decarbonisation Strategy setting out a pathway to achieve Net Zero in 2040 and become climate positive by 2045.

Prior to Viridor, Tim was CEO of the Association for Decentralised Energy, where he focussed on enabling more energy users to directly benefit from the transition to a low carbon economy.

Silvian Baltac - Partner, Industrial Decarbonisation, ERM

Silvian Baltac leads the Industrial Decarbonisation Consulting Practice within ERM advising public and private clients, including senior executives within the O&G, diversified energy, industrials, and investor community. Silvian is involved in the decarbonization of industrial clusters using hydrogen and CCUS, the development of decarbonisation strategies for industrials, and advising several “real world” projects forming consortia for securing funding for deployment of industrial decarbonisation, hydrogen, and CCUS technologies.

In addition, Silvian has been involved in the project leadership of industrial decarbonisation roadmaps and commercial and technical due-diligence on low-carbon opportunities.

Josh Buckland - Partner, Flint Global

Josh leads Flint’s work supporting clients on energy, climate and sustainability issues.
Previously, Josh was Energy Advisor to the Secretary of State for BEIS providing expert policy and strategic advice to senior politicians on a range of energy and climate issues including playing a key role in major policy decisions, such as setting the UK’s net zero target. Josh also held several other senior roles at the centre of Government, including three years in the Prime Minister’s Policy Unit leading on energy and environment.

Amelia Mitchell - Managing Consultant, ERM

Amelia Mitchell is a Managing Consultant at ERM specialising in Industrial Decarbonisation Consulting. She leads strategic projects that drive decarbonisation of heavy industry and manufacturing sectors, providing bespoke insights for individual facilities, policy makers, industrial clusters, local authorities, and technology developers. Her projects span from energy-systems modelling, techno-economics & business case, stakeholder engagement, technology landscaping & demand assessments.

She has particular interest in UK industrial cluster decarbonisation, having worked closely with the Humber cluster, and has strong knowledge of a range of abatement solutions (Electrification, Hydrogen, CCS, CCU, Bioenergy, GGRs).
